They laid content in each other’s arms, hidden away in this copse of trees, and discussed their future. Stroking her cheek as he watched her animated face talk, he had never felt such peace before.

“You know I love to garden, Adam, especially roses. I will need to start a plot when we move to your estate, after we marry,” she murmured dreamily.

“You can have anything you want, my sweet. I cannot wait to show you the grounds at Hallend,” he said, pressing soft kisses to her hands.

“Will you miss cavorting around town as a depraved bachelor?” she asked in an impish tone.

“You know, I am actually looking forward to nights spent cuddled in front of the fire reading. Or playing billiards but, I warn you, I will not let you win,” he replied, matching her tone.

“Well, I do not want to show you up too much, my handsome marquess, so I may let you win now and again,” she said, returning his kisses.

They realised it was getting late and Kentwell had invited him for dinner. Adam advised her he would ask her father for his permission and blessing for a betrothal tonight.
